Sidekick MX and Sidekick FX?

Written by admin on Monday, September 22nd, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Just like last year we’ve uncovered some new domains registered by T-Mobile. Both SidekickMX.com and SidekickFX.com (as well as the .net, .org, etc) have been registered by T-Mobile. These domains were originally registered on February 2nd, 2008 but show that the information was updated on June 5th, 2008. Neither of the domains are actually pointed at a live website though. This could of course mean absolutely nothing. They could just have been other names that T-Mobile was considering for the Sidekick 2008/Gekko, or could they be new devices?

Memorex MVBD-2510

Memorex MVBD-2510
We are pretty excited to see Memorex release a Blu-ray player priced under the $300 range. The Memorex MVBD-2510 blu-ray player will set you back just $269, making the MVBD-2510 very affordable indeed. Memorex have noticed that the current general high prices of blu-ray players have stopped people from making the BD jump, even after blu-ray has clearly won the HD war. Even at it’s budget price the Memorex MVBD-2510 has nice specifications and features, including BonusView, making it a BD Profile 1.1 player. The Memorex MVBD-2510 also has an elegant design with brushed metal accents and a white LED display, which certainly does not look budget. (Read the full post about ‘Memorex MVBD-2510′…)

Nikon Launches 50mm Silent Wave Lens. At Last.

Nikon Launches 50mm Silent Wave Lens. At Last.
Photokina is to photography enthusiasts what a Stevenote is to members of the Cult of Mac: An early Christmas. Unlike Apple’s announcements, though, which come packaged in their own individual capsule ready to be rocketed into the news stratosphere, camera makers launch their new products into the morass of press releases and blog overload characteristic of any tradeshow. So news of Nikon’s modest new 50mm lens could easily have been lost, but for the fact that it is the first new “standard” lens the company has made for years. This is important for owners of Nikon’s cheaper DSLRs, as it has a built-in Silent Wave motor to focus the lens — the D60, for example, lacks the internal motor needed to drive Nikon’s older autofocus lenses. Is It Possible to Live Without a Cellphone?

Is It Possible to Live Without a Cellphone?
Photo credit: Charlie Sorrel Is it possible to live without a cellphone? We’re going to find out, and we need your help. The modern phone offers every kind of portable function we might need, from communication to music and movies. But it comes with a cost: The monthly tariff. As somebody who hardly ever makes a phone call on with my cellphone (that’s what Skype is for), I have been wondering if I could give it up all together. This is partly to do with my current Brick, a Sony Ericsson P900, being such a huge and battered piece of junk that I don’t want to carry it, but it also has a lot to do with controlling access to my time - most calls I get are from people who want me to troubleshoot their Mac or PC. Panasonic Lumix G Prototype

Panasonic Lumix G Prototype
Panasonic showcased is Lumix G prototype that looks pretty much the same like the Lumix G1 at first glance, but then again there is a fair number of features that make it different. You will find a stereo microphone located on top of the body, on the back, top right side as well as a red button that does not signal a missle launch but for High Definition movie recording instead. There is no word on pricing or availability of the Panasonic Lumix G but it could very well be the logical continuation of the new Micro FourThirds standard.
