Is ASUS prepping a 5-megapixel Omnia challenger?
by Joshua Topolsky, posted Sep 14th 2008 at 6:07PM It looks like ASUS has more in store when it comes to touchscreen phones than that P552w we saw the other day. According to pictures leaked to the Mobile01 forums, the company is planning an Omnia-esque device that will feature a large (WQVGA or WVGA) touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera, a trackball for non-touch navigation, and the predictable 3G radios / WiFi. Not much is known about the device at this point, though speculation is running rampant on the forum as to CPU specs and on-board memory. It’s likely this will be at least competitive in comparison to recent Window Mobile devices we’ve seen of this variety, though nothing’s certain till we get word from ASUS… (Read the full post about ‘Is ASUS prepping a 5-megapixel Omnia challenger?’…)

The Seamour Sheep Radioactive USB Lamp

The Seamour Sheep Radioactive USB Lamp
USB gadgets are always taking gadgets to a whole new level of bizarre, well this little sheep is no exception. The USB Seamour Sheep lamp is created after the Seamour Sheep online comic series.  Although if you do pick one up, all anyone is likely going to notice is that you actually paid money to have a green glowing radioactive sheep.  Which puts you on a whole different level of geekdom. The sheep with the excessively lazy expression also happens to come with a set of removable goggles.  With the goggles it does make the little guy seem a bit cooler, leaving you looking like slightly less of a dork.  To get the lights to shut off just knock him over on his side and the strange green glow goes away.  Making it appear as if the sheep has finally croaked after years of exposure to all those radioactive chemicals.  It is USB powered and currently being sold on Rotofugi.  To pick up the Seamour Sheep Radioactive USB Lamp it will cost you $69. Voodoo can’t just come clean, has to tease yet another new product
by Darren Murph, posted Sep 14th 2008 at 1:52PM Most everyone digs a surprise, but the novelty tends to wear off after the third or fourth iteration of the same trick, wouldn’t you say? Rather than just coming right out and showing us the wares, Voodoo’s Rahul Sood is playing the tease card again with an obviously undisclosed new product. In an apparent attempt to keep the wave (started by the Omen and Envy 133, by the way) rolling, Mr. Sood has dropped a sliver of a hint on The Next Bench. He states that “there’s also this other thing [Voodoo is] working on right now,” but he very purposefully fails to elaborate. Just keep it sexy and overpowered and we won’t kvetch about the build up… (Read the full post about ‘Voodoo can’t just come clean, has to tease yet another new product’…)

The eco-friendly Lili Webcam
This cute little Lili Webcam not only has the appeal of looking adorable, but it was created in the best of ways. The webcam has managed to be created in such a way that it is actually eco-friendly. It is also thankfully a Fair Trade product. Which means the workers were in a safe and hygienic workplace while creating the cuddly little webcam. It also means that there was no child labor going on and the workers received a fair wage. Basically, Fair Trade means the little guy doing all the work didn’t get shafted. The webcam also features flexible legs, 1.3MP, 30fps and has a built-in microphone. It uses recycled packaging, has a reduced CO2 impact and uses renewable materials. iPhone 2.1 update: the aftermath
by Chris Ziegler, posted Sep 14th 2008 at 5:20AM Now that 2.1’s out, your iphone 3G is finally perfect — right? Well, that all depends on your definition of “perfect,” but odds are you still have a niggle or two poking out from behind that heaping pile of bugs and security flaws that were smoothed over with Cupertino’s putty knife in last week’s update. Here’s a quick look at what we’re hearing so far: Excluding those of you who don’t know where you are, our poll on claimed reception improvements in 2.1 suggests that the majority of iPhone 3G owners (by a slim margin) are seeing no improvement or — gasp! — a degradation in signal strength since 2.0.2.
