Sometimes the government just don’t make any sense to the average citizen. This is a prime example of the government being against the common people, and this affects everyone in California along with many other states. If you wanted to actually read the public laws that you are bound by, more than likely you’ll have to purchase them at a book store.

Why? Because the “public” laws of California are copyrighted, and lots of money is made by selling the law. You can read laws online for free, if the department in charge has taken the time to put them there, and if they have taken the time to format them to actually be searched for and found.

Shopping bags from recycled newspaper

Shopping bags from recycled newspaper
Using lightweight, reusable shopping bags made of recycled materials is pretty standard practice these days, but it’s nice when bags you use all the time have a bit of style too. I like these bags made of recycled newspaper (from the Arts and Leisure section, so they’re colorful too). They’re made to be water resistant and have double straps and velcro closure. At $52 each, they’re not cheap, but if you use the same one for years of trips to the farmer’s market, the grocery store, and the library, then the per use cost could be almost nothing. And each one is unique. Wallets of similar design are $30 each. Both are available at Uncommon Goods. Gadgetell Hands On with the Surface at the Sheraton
Some of you may remember when we reported that select Sheraton hotels were getting a Microsoft Surface table in their lobby.  Well, I happened to be in Seattle for the Penny Arcade Expo last weekend, (you can read more about that at Gamertell.com, our sister site) and so I had a chance to sit down and try it out for myself.  I took a video of my findings which you can check out after the jump, or you can read my quick summary of what I discovered with the three functions of CityTrips, Sheraton Snapshots, and Sounds of Sheraton. Panasonic holds live tru2way demonstration on TH-50PZ80Q plasma
by Darren Murph, posted Sep 5th 2008 at 4:46PM They said they were going to do it, and do it they did. While Samsung’s tru2way “demonstration” was barely more than a hack job used to show off what the technology was about, Panasonic demoed the real deal at its CEDIA booth. The 50-inch TH-50PZ80Q plasma contained a real CableCARD (yes, we checked) and was receiving a live signal from Comcast. Denver is just one of a few markets where tru2way is theoretically ready to rock, and according to a Panny rep, the set we saw today is a production unit that will ship sometime “later this year.” The idea here is to provide buyers with the ability to insert any CableCARD from any carrier (if you move, for example) into an HDTV, thus eliminating the cable company’s stranglehold (best known as a “carrier-issued set-top-box”) on you. Screen Grabs: jerkface Verizon FiOS guy brandishes a Kindle

Screen Grabs: jerkface Verizon FiOS guy brandishes a Kindle
by Paul Miller, posted Sep 5th 2008 at 11:05AMScreen grabs chronicles the uses (and misuses) of real-world gadgets in today’s movies and TV. Send in your sightings (with screen grab!) to screengrabs at engadget dt com. Yeah, we know a Screen Grabs about a commercial about technology is kind of cheating, but there are a couple of gaffes to point out here. First, Mr. Smug Surfer-Do “I Was In A Band But We Split Up Over Creative Differences” Verizon FiOS Guy is a total jerk, so we’re totally rooting for the Zach Galifianakis look-alike, even if his bandwidth might suck. Second, waving a Kindle around might make you look like you rock at your job, but we’re guessing a paper clipboard is about 100 times more functional for the actual task, unless you’re supposed to read self-help books to your customers. Acer Aspire One’s 6-cell is a whole lot cheaper bundled
by Paul Miller, posted Sep 5th 2008 at 10:46AM $119 for a battery to beef up a $380 computer? No thanks, Acer, but how about we nab ourselves a $400 Aspire One with the 6-cell already onboard? Yeah, we like the sound of that. (Read the full post about ‘Acer Aspire One’s 6-cell is a whole lot cheaper bundled’…)

AMD responds, wants you to buy AMD

Written by admin on Friday, September 5th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Less than two hours after our Opinion: Who would buy an AMD based computer? piece was published yesterday, AMD’s Scott Carroll sent us an email wherein they show three videos demonstrating the value added in terms of higher-end performance and cost savings with their ATI division’s Radeon graphics. Let’s take a look at the claims.

In the first video called “AMD Triple Core vs.

HTC Touch Diamond coming to Sprint on September 14

HTC Touch Diamond coming to Sprint on September 14
The Sprint branded HTC Touch Diamond, yet another handset that seems like the release will never come with rumored date after rumored date. The latest was calling for the Touch Diamond to be released in August, but as we all know now that has already come and gone, of course a new date has come up and this time we are pretty sure its accurate. PC Magazine is reporting that the Touch Diamond will be available on September 14 and that it will be retailing for $249.99, which comes along with a two-year agreement and after a $100 rebate, we can only hope that its an instant rebate. Either way, it sounds like a decent price, thankfully the pending release date is not that far into the future, lets just hope it sticks this time.
