Is your phone SIMable proof?

Written by admin on Friday, August 29th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Is your phone SIMable proof?
If your phone is on this list, then the answer to that question would be “no.” And your question would probably be, “What the heck does SIMable mean anyway?” SIMable is a thin chip that can be attached to your SIM card to fool your mobile phone into thinking that it has been unlocked. The price you pay? Apparently around $37, plus a hole that you have to cut out in your SIM card for aligning the SIMable chip. The company even puts to rest your doubts on how to accomplish that by “including a free cutting tool with every purchase.” In the market since April of this year, the company now boasts success with the cracking of even the latest iphone 3G. Watch the video demonstration here. (Read the full post about ‘Is your phone SIMable proof?’…)

Samsung has taken a 120GB 1.8-inch hard drive and recently put it into a shiny black, credit card sized enclosure. Seemingly without an official name, the new drives feature a shiny black exterior with a hard drive logo and a simple statement of “The Storage World In Hand.”

All things considered 120GB is quite a lot of storage for a drive enclosure of that size, and certainly beats using a regular USB flash drive in terms of capacity. The drive does offer some nice perks in that its a 4200rpm drive which only requires 1.4W of power, which means it will not require anything other than a spare USB port for power.

USB Jewel thumb drive

USB Jewel thumb drive
It’s always amusing to see the frivolous designs for something as practical as a USB thumb drive. These “fashionable” jewels from USB Brando are designed to wear around your neck (necklace included) or on your cell phone strap. A little too drag queen for me, they scream “Steal me”! Each to her own, however. Supports Window 2000/XP/Vista or MAC OS; 81 x 24 x 10mm (approx.); Weight: 20g. $39.00 for the 4G. Coca-Cola close to releasing 100-drink soda fountains

Written by admin on Friday, August 29th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

If anybody has ever been to the World of Coke in Atlanta, then you probably remember the last room. It’s a huge room, full of Coca-Cola machines with flavors from all over the world. Some of these are incredible, “Why don’t they serve this in the U.S.?” sort of events; and some of them are plainly horrible. All in all, though, it’s a fun experience.

Now Coca-Cola is taking this model (or at least something close to it) and they’re bringing it to a convenience store near you. Their plans are to create a flavor station that can dispense 100 different drinks or flavor variations.

HTC S740 live photos
The HTC S740 is one of the most anticipated smartphone and although we appreciate HTC’s product photos (that look more like computer graphics rendering) there’s nothing like live photos of our favorite gadgets. So yes, in the real world, it’s less shiny, it gets dirty (blame your fingers) and thicker than one might think but it’s still worth a look. Rumor: Apple Considers iPhone Tethering Option
Apple may have gotten the hint that there’s money to be made from people who want to turn their iPhones into a wireless modem — after banning a $10 application that did exactly that. Gizmodo received an e-mail from a reader, who claims Steve Jobs responded to his plea for a tethering option through AT&T. The reader pointed out that AT&T offers tethering options for blackberry phones for an additional cost, and he would be willing to pay extra to have that service for iphone. The reader forwarded Gizmodo an e-mail, which he claims is from Jobs: We agree, and are discussing it with ATT. Steve Sent from my iPhone Here’s something to note. Sony Bravia EX1 Wireless LCD TV

Written by admin on Friday, August 29th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Freshly launched at IFA 2008, the Sony Bravia EX1 is an LCD TV that integrates wireless audio/video transmission to cut down on HDMI cables. On the photo, the picture is beamed from the box on the lower left of the TV to the display itself, but in the real world, one would probably find a better way to take advantage of the wireless feature. The Bravia EX1 will be available in at the end of the year in the following sizes: 40″, 46″ and 52″. It was designed for the European market and would probably show up there first.

IPosture Stops Slouching, Enlarges Breasts

Written by admin on Friday, August 29th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Have you all got your Buzzword Bingo cards ready? Good. Eyes down…

The iPosture is a gadget that begins with the letter ‘i’. The little disk constantly monitors your posture and delivers a sharp, corrective vibration if you deviate by more than three degrees from your starting position. How does it manage such a feat? Nanotechnology:

The secret of the iPosture is WINS TM, or Wearable Intelligent Nano-Sensor, a microchip that monitors stance several times every second.

To use it, you need to clip it to your shirt, or surreptitiously slide it into your bra, whereupon you will be transformed from a lazy, slouching, small breasted troglodyte into a beautifully elegant creature with pert, skyward pointing breasts and a flat belly.
