Samsung Squeezes Out X360 Mini Notebook

Samsung Squeezes Out X360 Mini Notebook
Samsung has unveiled a mini notebook that it boasts is "lighter than air" — and perhaps the company is referring to Apple’s MacBook Air. Weighing 2.8 pounds, the X360 is just a tiny bit lighter than the 3-pound MacBook Air. However, the X360 is still thicker than the Air: The X360 measures 0.66 inches deep on one end and 1.2 inches on the other; the Air measures 0.16 to 0.76 inches thick. The X360 features the Intel Centrino 2 platform, a 13.3-inch screen and support for up to 4GB of RAM and a 120GB solid state drive. Similar to the Air, the X360 unfortunately lacks an optical drive. Those lucky folks at Engadget have already gotten their hands on an X360, and they’ve reported positive feedback. (Read the full post about ‘Samsung Squeezes Out X360 Mini Notebook’…)

If the RIAA is after you, don’t wipe your hard drive

Written by admin on Thursday, August 28th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

In their ongoing battle against illegal file-sharing, the RIAA hasn’t been extremely successful. Most of their cases end up being thrown out, due to a lack of evidence or shotty police work. Today, though, they have something to smile about… and it’s also a lesson to anybody out there that’s trying to share illegal files without being caught.

Atlantic v. Howell was just one of hundreds of cases that the RIAA had brought against people that they suspected of file-sharing music that was held in their property until something happened.

New iPod Nano Mock-up Gives us a Glimpse of the Future
The next-generation iPod Nano is rumoured to be presented to the public on September 9. Since we’re all excited about knowing how it’d look like and what changes would be implemented, we’re also all inclined to lap up all alleged photos that come around, even if they’re blurry and dark. Instead of spy pics which tells us nothing and from which we could discern little anyways, why not just take a look at this picture? It’s actually a mock-up of what the new generation of ipod Nano MIGHT look like as interpreted by Miguel Suarez. As you can see on the image, Mr. Suarez placed Touch-like control keys on the screen, making us hope, indeed, that the new iPod Nano has touch screen capability. Emperors New iPHone 3G case vs. iFrogz Tire Tread model
When I received the Air Jacket from Power Support I swear I thought they had sent me an empty case. Inside, however, there’s an almost invisible hard backing that fits snugly to the back of the iphone 3G and an anti-glare screen for the front. Virtually thin as “Air,” the Air Jacket measures .7mm and is said to protect from scratches, dust and impacts. While it certainly compliments the iPhone’s aesthetics, I’m not so sure it would protect your baby from anything more than a dust bunny. $34.95 from Power Support. On the other end of the spectrum, we have the iFrogz Treadz, with it’s 100% silicone rugged tire tread design. (Read the full post about ‘Emperors New iPHone 3G case vs. iFrogz Tire Tread model’…)

Competition hots up on slimline TVs
TV manufacturers are constantly trying to out-do each other on specs. Brightness, contrast, number of inputs - it’s all fair game. We’ve already had the worlds Largest plasma but it looks like the next battleground will be the thickness of the screen. Sony are proudly proclaiming the new 40″ Bravia XZ1 holds the title of “World’s thinnest LCD TV” measuring 9.9mm at it’s slimmest point. To put that into perspective, it’s slightly thinner than my K660i. Quite a feat! More details after the jump Edge mounted LED lighting, replacing the conventional backlight. A separate receiver hooks up the inputs, sending the HD signal wirelessly to the screen. (Read the full post about ‘Competition hots up on slimline TVs’…)
