The $50 Winner and last weeks Coolest Gadget…
Last weeks coolest gadget again had a runaway winner (45% of the votes), the iRing (another podium finish for Gaj It)), the coolest way to control your ipod. The iRing’s functionality is every bit as cool as the iPod’s. To adjust the volume, you simply need to slide your finger across the touch sensitive surface of the ring. To play or pause songs, just tap the apple icon on the ring and to skip tracks you need only touch on either side of the icon depending on which direction you want to go As cool as the iRing is, it is only a concept which did give it a bit of an unfair advantage in last weeks contest so we might be changing the rulea a little bit for next week. …. M2E Power promises motion chargers next year
The company M2E Power was formed last year and aims to bring renewable energy gadgets to the marketplace. The first of these being a device that generates energy as we move. M2E says they have now proved their technology works and aim to bring a product to market next year. The device is meant to sit in you pocket and as you move slowly generates energy. It does this by harvesting the energy from electromagnetic fields produced within the M2E device. As you move this energy is slowly produced, collected and stored in a lithium-ion battery. That energy can then be transferred into your mobile device’s battery. The key point to the M2E charger is the fact it allows energy to be produced without encumbering the wearer. Written by admin on Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

The declining economy continues to hurt traditional print mags with the latest casualty being smartphone and Pocket PC Magazine. According to Hal Goldstein, publisher and owner, after 11 years the final issue will be published in 2008 and the magazine will be suspended.

Hal also went on to say that it’s been difficult to get phone companies, OEMs and even Microsoft to advertise, despite that the magazine was covering their products.

Hal is not stepping away from traditional print all together, though.

Official: First Google Android Phone Design Image
The first design image of the HTC Dream AKA T-Mobile G1 better known as the first Google Android OS powered phone is out via the AndroidGuys. The phone seems inspired by HTC’s Sidekick in its QWERTY keyboard, buttons layout and slide out screen. It also seems to have a slim form factor, which should help it compete with Apple’s iphone or the new blackberry. The back of the device has a ‘With Google’ tag line on it. Clearly T-Mobile and HTC are doing all they can to help ring the brand recognition bell among ordinary users. T-Mobile, HTC and Google have said they plan to release the device in the third quarter. Casio’s 8 megapixel Exilim W63CA cellphone gets FCC approved
by Thomas Ricker, posted Aug 26th 2008 at 8:15AM First off, the chance of this Japanese super-phone coming to the US or anywhere else outside of Nippon is slim. FCC approval or not, it’s likely only being tested for global roaming. However, as slim is its chances are, they’ve improved dramatically now that Japan’s government is behind a push to promote its twisty, folding phones abroad. This Exilim-branded Casio / Hitachi mashup sports an 8 megapixel camera and with any luck, it’s using that new Omnivision sensor meant to revolutionize cameraphones. As followup to the W53CA, this 3G W63CA flip will no doubt feature the same high-resolution, 800 x 480 pixel swiveling display of its cousin.
