Sony exec admits that PSP developer community should be revitalized
by Darren Murph, posted Jun 25th 2008 at 4:52PM If you just can’t get enough of what Sony Europe execs are saying, here’s another mouthful just days after hearing from David Reeves. This time we’ve got SCEE’s VP of publisher and developer relations Zeno Colaço shouting out on the state of PSP, and overall, his comments weren’t that surprising. Most notably, he mentioned that the developer community needed to be “revitalized” so that it would get behind the PSP in a big way. When asked about the current dearth of games for the handheld, he commented that such a scenario happens “when you rely on a business model that relies on 25% games from Sony and 75% from other publishers.” He continued by stating that Sony “probably suffered” from being unable to completely recover when third-party developers refocused efforts away from the playstation Portable. USB Carabiner Flash Drive for the Outdoorsy Geek

USB Carabiner Flash Drive for the Outdoorsy Geek
Let’s face it–majority of the flash drive products in the market are the same old, same old boring thing. Unless it features a revolutionary awe-inspiring technology, it’s the same banana for me. So when everyone else offers what you do, what should manufacturers actually do? Simple, they have to catch our, that is the consumers’, attention. Take for example this USB Carabiner Flash Drive by Brando. If you’re the outdoorsy type who has the tendency to use devices such as carabiners, then this might appeal to you. Just don’t confuse it for the real deal while you’re on the top of a mountain and a carabiner means life or death. (Read the full post about ‘USB Carabiner Flash Drive for the Outdoorsy Geek’…)

Camoria Gets Your Life On Camera

Camoria Gets Your Life On Camera
I think we all know that people just want their lives on the Internet, and they will gladly paste their photos and videos on their MySpace and FaceBook pages without any regards to the consequences. This is why the Camoria has been developed. The Camoria is an over-the-ear digital camera that is designed to put your life in the form of pictures. Of course, there is no way that you can get your own face in the shots, unless you stand in front of mirror. Right now, the Camoria is a concept device by German designer Akbiyik Vokan. Information that I got about the Camoria is very sketchy, so I don’t know how much memory it has, or how long the battery will last. I have a proposal as to how it could be better. Ultraman Does USB Now

Ultraman Does USB Now
I remember fondly from my childhood days when I had great times watching Ultraman kick ass against a monster rampaging across Tokyo. Of course, he’ll always wait until the last minute to use his super ray, but that’s enough to send a kid like me to the moon. For Ultraman and Rei Ayanami fans in Japan, both of these cult figures will now be available in the form of a USB flash drive, where both of them feature movable legs to add to the overall cuteness. These are 2GB USB flash drives with no word on pricing. Very cute, but I suppose only fans of either characters will purchase them. (Read the full post about ‘Ultraman Does USB Now’…)

Luminous Glass makes your tabletops glow
I swear there is nothing that can’t have a bit of extra lighting thrown in somehow.  This Luminous Glass can be used as any type of tabletop you like.  Be it a desk, an island or even the dining room table.  Nothing says geeky headquarters quite like a glowing dining room table.  It would look especially cool to replace the glass on a glass top desk to give it extra geek appeal.  The table top is 3/4” thick and made of phosphorescent glass.  The darker your room the brighter the tabletop will glow. Sony Ericsson W350 Rubik Cube

Sony Ericsson W350 Rubik Cube
Man, I hate Rubik’s Cube when I was a kid and even until now (minus numerous tutorials online who let you know how to get it solved), I have yet to stumble upon the magical combination that can unlock the entire puzzle. This Sony Ericsson W350 Rubik’s Cube can be yours only if you pick up the handset - in Hong Kong, that is. Guess the rest of the world will just have to give this a miss, or hope to catch a glimpse of it on eBay or something. Set of Recycled LP Record Coasters

Set of Recycled LP Record Coasters
If you have a thing for vintage technology, these coasters are a great way to show your love for old LP records.  Granted you could just pick up your own favorite records from the local thrift shop, that is if you don’t have your own already.  However, having a cold drink, dripping with condensation will end up damaging the label on the top.  These particular records have been laminated on both sides to prevent that from happening.  Now if you happen to find a way to do the laminating yourself, it’d definitely be more fun to just pick out your own LP records. The Game Developer Conference is in Paris this week and one of the KeyNote Q&A sessions yesterday was with Rob Parlo, senior vice president of Blizzard. Among finding out details such as his background including a degree in Criminology, one very surprising fact came out about the origins of World of Warcraft..

During the session Rob said the following:

When we were first going to make World of Warcraft, we wanted to make it free and advertising supported … We didn’t want to charge a subscription, but as we researched market conditions, we realized that wouldn’t support us.

He also commented on how they approached the MMO game space saying they first targeted Ultima then Everquest before deciding to go their own route.
