Stand Pouch nifty for Shutterbugs

Stand Pouch nifty for Shutterbugs
The Stand Pouch is a simple yet effective idea for those who love casual photography - it not only functions as a camera case, it also comes with a built-in tripod connector, allowing you to capture self-portraits even when you’re in the great outdoors and uneven ground is all around. The tripod segment is fully adjustable just like a regular tripod. No idea on how much it costs, but you can choose from black, metallic grey and royal blue colors. Strange how I never thought of such a simple solution, as I could be rolling in Benjamins by now. Tags: gadgets, gizmos, M4A, camera (Read the full post about ‘Stand Pouch nifty for Shutterbugs’…)

An announcement made just the other day by AMD indicates that their previous 8-core processor roadmap has now been pitched into the bin. The future holds a 12-core chip from AMD, coming in the second half of 2010. Dubbed Magny-Cours, the server world will see the benefits of what could easily be called “extreme multi-cores”. In an attempt to satiate the massive bandwidth required by a 12-core chip churning away at high speed, Magny-Cours will receive a seemingly lightweight 6MB of L3 cache shared among all cores. The chip will support DDR3 memory and, according to AMD, is easier to make than an 8-core chip.

A 6-core version, called Sao Paulo, will also be coming out in 2010.

Magic Wheel a Wonder

Magic Wheel a Wonder
Frankly, I wouldn’t call this a bicycle, as it is more of a modern update to the penny farthing. The Magic Wheel functions like a foot scooter and helps you get around although you won’t be breaking any land speed records anytime soon. It apparently takes a couple of hours to master it, retailing for $230 a pop - which is roughly as much as a full-fledged mountain bike. The Magic Wheel is available in selected Asian markets as well as those in the US and Europe. Doesn’t look too friendly on the groin area when it comes to accidental falls though - I’d feel safer on a skateboard or a pair of roller blades. (Read the full post about ‘Magic Wheel a Wonder’…)

HIPerSpace Monitor Wall

HIPerSpace Monitor Wall
The HIPerSpace Monitor Wall makes for the perfect night if you happen to have this setup in your home while throwing a wild party for your friends. Researchers at UC San Diego certainly know how to live it up, re-engineering their middleware that allows game consoles to output video to the HIPerSpace monitor wall, which makes the recently released GTA IV all the more enthralling to play. Guess research will take a back seat at the moment as those brainacs take some time off to let out some steam. Black iPhone Custom

Black iPhone Custom
While the iphone has been out for about a year now, we’ve seen plenty of custom jobs done on it on an unprecedented level where gadgets are concerned. Knight Creations does not intend to miss out on this money-spinning opportunity, coming up with the Black iPhone custom which has been upgraded with black replacement parts, consisting of an anodized aluminum back as well as TiAlN-treated Apple logo and front bezel. The main drawback I can see is the price - it will retail for a whopping $849, never mind that there is 16GB of memory inside. (Read the full post about ‘Black iPhone Custom’…)

T-rexon MP747-SM PDA Phone

T-rexon MP747-SM PDA Phone
I think it reflects poorly on a manufacturer when they actually have to insist that their device is a real PDA phone in a notice such as this :- Please note that this is a Genuine PDA phone. Most other so-called PDA-phones advertised by other suppliers are NOT true PDA phones, butsmart phones only with a firmware interface similar to Windows Mobile. No application can be installed on these false PDA-phones and the OS cannot be altered. True PDA phones run on Microsoft Windows, Linux or similar OS and all Windows/Linux applications can be installed. Cry me a river, dude, but statements like that just seem to strip whatever little credibility there is left. (Read the full post about ‘T-rexon MP747-SM PDA Phone’…)

Details emerge on Apple’s acquisition of chip designer P.A. Semi
by Donald Melanson, posted May 8th 2008 at 12:04AMThere weren’t a whole lot of firm details on the reasons behind Apple’s acquisition of chip designer P.A. Semi to be had back when the deal was announced last month, but it seems that a bit of the veil of mystery may now be lifting, at least if the word EETimes is hearing from its unnamed source is to be believed. Apparently, Apple was keen to have P.A. Semi’s crack chip-making team design a new chip for them, but P.A. Semi had “more or less burnt through its venture capital funds,” leaving them unable to take on the project. According to EETimes source, that meant that the only way to get P.A.
