10-year old is a “Wii Fat” according to Nintendo

Written by admin on Thursday, May 8th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Wiifit gets it all wrong by telling a 10 year old girl she’s overweight when there’s not an ounce of fat on her.

Nintendo’s new Wiifit game recently assessed a ten year old child in the UK as overweight, even though she’s 4′9″ and weights only six stones (84 pounds).

Could Nintendo see lawsuits from angry parents claiming that the Wiifit software is turning their children to anorexia or giving them emotional problems to fight with? Well we do need to keep in mind that it’s only an electronic gadget for entertainment.

Getting iCal, Entourage, Exchange and iTunes to play together nicely
Out of the box the iPhone is supposed to sync effortlessly with Entourage. While that’s the claim, in the past I’ve had more than my share of issues. Sometimes the syncing just doesn’t work, other times it syncs from the iPhone to Entourage but not back again. I’ve tried a number of “fixes” in the past and a couple of months ago I couldn’t take the strange behavior anymore so I moved to just iCal and left Entourage out of the equation. Last week I received a Blackjack II loaded with Windows Mobile 6.1. It was working great and since I pay for a hosted Exchange account, I figured it was time to finally figure out how to get Entourage to work in my world again. Vortex Howlers

Vortex Howlers
Vortex Howlers The Vortex Howler is the perfect park chucker - make it scream… The Vortex Howler is a satisfyingly squidgy American Football with a stabilising tailfin that flies like a dream. The body of the ball has three separate whistles embedded in it that, when you give it a hurl, combine for an awesome sound effect as it sails through the air. If you’ve got a strong throwing arm you can try to beat the record throw of just over 90 metres, and watch heads turn as it whistles by. I LOVE YOU Music Pillow

I LOVE YOU Music Pillow
Valentine’s Day is over, but that is still no reason not to get gifts for your loved one. The I LOVE YOU Music Pillow comes in the form of a throbbing red heart, pumping out tunes as long as it is wired to a working mp3 player. Looks like the perfect travel accessory when you’re on a long haul mission, since it is soft and comfortable enough to lie down and even catch forty winks with it. It retails for $14 and connects to any external music source through its 3.5mm stereo audio connector. This won’t be able to hold a candle to the Scented Musical Fruit Pillows though. U.K. gets 200 channels of Freesat

U.K. gets 200 channels of Freesat
Residents of the U.K. have been enjoying free digital channels for several years now through a service called Freeview. For the price of a new digital set top box (around US$80) you get access to 30+ TV channels and radio broadcasts through a standard TV aerial. Now another new service has launched called Freesat, which requires the use of a satellite receiver dish instead of a standard aerial. Freesat is a joint venture between the BBC and ITV and will be available to 98% of U.K. households. Straight away it will offer 80 channels including TV, radio and high-definition content as well, but this will increase to 200 channels by the end of 208. Green-House GH-USB-CUP2
Cold drinks should remain cold, and hot drinks, well, hot, if they’re to be enjoyed the way it is supposed to be. Green-House aims to help you with that aspect of your favorite beverage thanks to its Green-House GH-USB-CUP2 USB cup cooler and warmer that caters to all seasons, regardless of whether you love drinking chilled or hot drinks. Temperatures can remain as low as 15? or even kept warm at 40?, although I would’ve preferred a larger range to work with. All you need to do is place your cup on your metal plate, plug in the device into any available powered USB port and you’re good to go. (Read the full post about ‘Green-House GH-USB-CUP2′…)

Samsung Ace Review - Wired

Samsung Ace Review - Wired
Wired reviews the Samsung Ace and writes, “While the Ace feels just right physically, metaphysically it feels like much of the same. There’s nothing about that handset that is a far-and-away improvement over the BlackJack series. A Palm or Mac OS is far superior to the bloated Windows Mobile 6 the Ace insists on using. Worse yet, there’s a conspicuous lack of features on this device found in similar handsets. Where are my touchscreens, my gigabyte-juiced internal memory, my Mac compatibility, and my greater multimedia options and features? Come on Samsung, we know you’re trying to offer a smartphone for less, but the competition out there is fierce…1.3-megapixel camera good for sharp pics.” Read more about the Samsung Ace.
