LG KF600 Review - Mirror

Written by admin on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Mirror reviews the LG KF600 and writes, “Looks-wise, the handset is pretty sharp, featuring a smoked glass fascia with stylish chrome trim, while animated themes by legendary New York artist Keith Haring add to its cred. The KF600 packs in a reasonable three megapixel camera with flash and auto focus, but it loses marks for not having 3G connectivity. So, if you want to surf you’ll have to make do with the slower EDGE network…While the touchscreen is innovative and intuitive, it’s sometimes annoyingly unresponsive.

Samsung F110 miCoach Review - Mirror

Written by admin on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Mirror reviews the Samsung F110 miCoach and writes, “The phone itself boasts a 2MP camera, GPRS, EDGE and Bluetooth connectivity (but no 3G), 1GB of storage and an FM radio. And, while it’s no substitute for a flesh-and-blood personal trainer, the shameful stats the miCoach provided this reviewer with certainly helped motivate him to start working out more regularly…Relatively easy to use, the fitness features are certainly no gimmick, and anyone looking to get in shape should find it useful.”

MovieBeam Ressurected?

MovieBeam Ressurected?
Most folks might think that MovieBeam is dead, but there is a remote possibility that it may be hitting a TV screen near you sometime soon. After all, Movie Gallery has asked for bankruptcy court approval to sell their VOD service to Dar Capital Limited at a $2.25 million price tag. Movie Gallery pulled the plug on its-on-demand movie service, called MovieBeam, in December as part of its restructuring under Chapter 11 protection. Dar Capital Limited has agreed to buy MovieBeam, which had about 1,800 subscribers at the time it was shut down. The service required customers to purchase a television set-top box that allowed them to order films for between $1.99 and $4.99. (Read the full post about ‘MovieBeam Ressurected?’…)

If you film yourself doing something illegal, delete the footage before returning the camera
A recent purchase from a Best Buy of a PureDigital Flip camera offered a little more than you would expect from a standard retail version. This camera in particular was an open box item, and true to the word, you never know what to expect when you buy something that has already been used and returned. In this case it was two stupid kids, who forgot (and when you read on its easy to understand why) to delete their footage before returning the camera. They left three videos which ran a total of about 40 minutes worth of footage on the camera of themselves smoking up. Hence the, making it easy to forget to delete the footage comment. The site also features an interactive gallery showing the Samsung Instinct in various angles. Our only gripe about this is the fact that the image of the Instinct doesn’t look very realistic. HTC unveils new HTC Touch Diamond, “not too big, not too small”
by Joshua Fruhlinger, posted May 6th 2008 at 7:15AM Here we are in London at the Soho Hotel with HTC, and we are among the first to see their new Diamond handset. While we thought we may see three new products in three different form factors, HTC Prez and CEO Peter Chou led-off the event by mentioning that they would be launching just one product today. He peppered his intro by talking about the Touch, so we were prepared to see an update on that product utilizing their TouchFLO tech. The device has some pretty nice interface tech that they’re calling TouchFLO 3D that heavily emphasizes one-touch browsing and single-finger dialing. They emphasized web accessibility, zoom-in navigation with “just one hand” and not too many fingers. (Read the full post about ‘HTC unveils new HTC Touch Diamond, “not too big, not too small”’…)

Online Digital Photography Buying Guides
Filed in archive Digital Photo Sites by jim on May 03, 2008 With all the choices available today choosing the right digital camera or accessories for it can be a bit overwhelming. People with limited time, and indeed, even those with the time, can find it frustrating to weed through the numerous ads, reports, and reviews on just a few cameras much less on a dozen or so to insure that the right camera will end up in your hands. I found that buying guide magazines are usually outdated before you buy them; at least as far as digital cameras are concerned, so the answer is online guides. Try "PCPhoto.com" for an up to date guide to digital cameras, and digital camera accessories. (Read the full post about ‘Online Digital Photography Buying Guides’…)

Yahoo! searches get safer with McAfee

Written by admin on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

McAfee have a very useful and free browser plug-in called SiteAdvisor. Once installed searches done on the most popular search engines have a traffic light symbol rendered next to the results. It offers users an extra level of security; and by mousing over the symbol more information on how good or bad that site is appears in a pop-up.

Now Yahoo! and McAfee have teamed up to offer SearchScan, which integrates SiteAdvisor directly into Yahoo! search results. It provides information on how risky the different search results are, as well as offering you settings for filtering adult web, video and image results.

SearchScan should already be available to those accessing Yahoo!
