Sony ICD-B600 For The Budget-conscious
Having a digital voice recorder around can be pretty handy, especially when you want to make impromptu voice notes in order to remember whatever task you have to do in the future. Sony will be making available its ICD-B600 digital voice recorder this April for approximately $40, bringing 512MB of internal flash memory to the masses. That amount is able to provide up to 300 hours of recording time in long playing mode. Other features include a 12/24 hour clock and a couple of AAA batteries to run it. Looks like this is a suitable addition for college students and those suffering from short-term memory. (Read the full post about ‘Sony ICD-B600 For The Budget-conscious’…)

iTunes: over 4 billion served
Apple announced today that iTunes has become the 2nd largest music retailer trailing Wal-Mart.  Apple states over 4 billion songs have been sold through the service and love to toss around the 20 million served up on Christmas Day 2007.  Apple bases its data on an NPD report. Apple says it has captured 50 million iTunes users, which if my math is correct, means an average of 80 songs per customer.  Does that sound right to you?  I’ve got more than that. Can anyone not see a day when iTunes passes Wal-Mart?  Clearly Apple is dominating in online music sales thanks to their players and the ease of use that is the iTunes experience.  With no independent music store pressure, Apple is reaping the benefits of a virtual monopoly. Apple Speeds Up MacBook

Written by admin on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Alongside the MacBook Pro update today, Apple has beefed up the internals of the MacBook. Now available with Intel Core2Duo chips clocked at 2.1 and 2.4Ghz, the new MacBooks also sport larger hard drives (120GB and 160GB) and the 2.4GHz models come with 2GB RAM as standard. These differences make the $200 between the two white MacBooks seem a lot smaller.

If you want a black one, though, you’ll still be paying a premium for the color. At $1500, the BlackBook is $200 more than the high-end white model. For that cash you’ll get nothing more than a bigger, 250GB hard drive.

Xbox 360 HD DVD Drive Plummets In Price
Looks like the Xbox 360 hd dvd drive is experiencing a firesale that we predicted yesterday - Retailers like Best Buy are currently carrying it for just $49.99 - is that price low enough for curious onlookers to pick it up? After all, think of it as a DVD player that features HD DVD playback. Own a piece of (discontinued) history today. I wonder how folks who paid $199 for it feel now. Fujitsu Calmee Space lets you dock your hard drives

Fujitsu Calmee Space lets you dock your hard drives

When you work on computers, one of the easiest ways to pull data off of a hard drive is to plug it into a different working PC. Rather than actually cracking the case on said PC, one of my favorite tools to use is an external USB adapter. While this method is much easier than putting the old hard drive inside of your computer, I always wondered if there was an easier way. As it turns out, there is. This cool dock from Fujitsu actually lets you use a hard drive in the same fashion as your ipod when you want to sync it. Just slide in the hard drive and you’re good to go. This eliminates any of the annoying cables that you must plug and unplug with the traditional adapters. (Read the full post about ‘Fujitsu Calmee Space lets you dock your hard drives’…)

Sony STR-DG A/V Receivers Go HD
Sony aims to make high definition home theater management easier by rolling out a quartet of A/V receivers that feature high definition performance, an easy set-up and control via a special icon-driven menu system. Each of these new models should simplify home theater operation, functioning as a central hub for audio and HD video home theater components by bringing together all sources to one HDMI output from the receiver to the display. Some of the shared features among all four models are 1080/24p True Cinema video pass-through, advanced audio codec support, and upscaling of all standard definition video sources to 1080p via HDMI when connected to a 1080p-capable HDTV set.
