Creative Working on WiFi MP3 Player?
Sources supposedly tight with Creative Technologies say the company is taking inspiration from Microsoft’s Zune (insert joke here) and working on a WiFi-equipped addition to its Zen line of media players. It will supposedly be called the Zen Share and will come out in May or June. Long-term memory prodigies will recall that song-sharing did not turn out to be the secret weapon that slays the ipod beast, and Microsoft subsequently had to retool its whole marketing approach away from the supposed social advantages  of Zunedom.P.S. — Am I brain-damaged for not noticing until now that "Zune" is one letter away from "Zen?" Or for paying attention to that at all? (Read the full post about ‘Creative Working on WiFi MP3 Player?’…)

GPS System with Breathalyzer
GPS navigation systems are great in getting you around, but how many of them actually boast the capability of telling whether you’re drunk or not? The G400 is one interesting GPS navigation system, featuring an integrated alcohol sensor on the side that knows just how much alcohol per liter there is in your blood. If only vehicle manufacturers will be able to make a modification of this GPS navigation system in the future, preventing the vehicle from starting or moving as long as there is a drunk driver in the seat. The G400 ought to make its way Stateside soon, but in the meantime, it is available in Portugal for €200. (Read the full post about ‘GPS System with Breathalyzer’…)

Review: Toshiba Satellite X205-SLi1 Gaming Notebook

Review: Toshiba Satellite X205-SLi1 Gaming Notebook
The gaming notebook has always been an interesting product. It is basically a desktop replacement laptop that packs in extra performance in the graphics department. They run both mobile processors and a mobile video card, so there are limitations to their performance relative to a desktop; but over the past year or two, we have seen dramatic improvements in their power and capabilities. Despite any shortcomings, gaming laptops are useful in that the users get a whole gaming system packed into a platform that can be moved from place to place (some would hesitate to call it “portable”) with everything necessary built right in. Video proof of the renegade satellite’s destruction
Posted Feb 21st 2008 8:34AM by Joshua TopolskyFiled under: Misc. gadgets Sure, it’s one thing to hear about that satellite getting blown to bits, but there’s nothing like cold, hard video evidence to really cement our belief in the Navy’s extreme skill at hitting fast moving objects in space with huge missiles. Yes — the video is grainy and hard to make out, but if you can’t tell how bad we blew that thing out of the sky… well maybe you’re not looking hard enough. Review: SLEEK AUDIO SA6 In-Ear Headphones Sing To Your Ears

Review: SLEEK AUDIO SA6 In-Ear Headphones Sing To Your Ears
Eschewing the one-sound-fits-all headphone paradigm, personal audio newcomer Sleek Audio sets the mark for sound customization and modular design. Created by Mark Krywko, a 30-year veteran of hearing aid design, these mini-concert halls are built around a tiny super wide band single armature driver with interchangeable treble tips and bass ports and sport a detachable cord. Straight out of the box the SA6’s delivered luscious fidelity. But why stop there? I fiddled with the bass and treble in each ear for a few days. The trial and error paid off in spades, yielding a setup that’s cochlea-opening ear candy. Like most of the expensive in-ears there’s plenty of power in these baby rockers, but the biggest revelation was hearing the subtleties in the music. Has Homeland Security Gone Too Far with Tech Surveillance?

Normally, I’m all for what Uncle Sam needs to do in order to maintain National Security … so long as it doesn’t go too far. The question is, with this story in Hack N Mod, has Uncle Sam (and Dell Computers) gone a bridge too far in surveilling America? Big Brother is indeed watching you, my friends … One man found a keylogger connected to the integrated Ethernet board of his Dell PC. The story goes on to state that Dell gave him a nondescript reply and after consulting local law enforcement, he made a FOIA request regarding it. The reply is interesting, but may not be the entire story. Not everything is black helicopters and wiretaps.
