Blackberry with 900 diamonds

Written by admin on Wednesday, February 20th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

While some people die of hunger, others spend millions to have a cellphone with diamonds - that is how the world rolls.

Now that I’ve mentioned that important detail, let me talk about the actual subject of this post, the blackberry Pearl Diamond Edition.

Emotiv sees an update

Emotiv sees an update

Remember the Emotiv headset which we covered last year? That was a unique mind-controller that enabled wearers to actually control the actions on the screen simply by using the power of the mind, but one year ago, the prototype could not do as much as what was displayed at GDC this year. This updated Emotiv headset is now even more capable of interpreting the interaction of neurons in the brain, picking up electrical activity from the brain while sending signals to a computer sans wires. This makes it a snap for users to manipulate a game (imagine making headshots all the time with perfect accuracy in Counter Strike) and a virtual environment naturally and intuitively. Verizon Wireless began offering unlimited voice plans on Tuesday and it seems that T-Mobile and AT&T now want to follow suit. T-Mobile USA has announced that it too will offer unlimited calling and messaging plans beginning on Thursday. Unlimited messaging will include text messages, picture messages, and instant messages. The new unlimited plans will be available to new and existing T-Mobile subscribers. T-Mobile will continue to offer myFaves plans at US$39.99 a month.

Wedisk USB Flash Drive

Wedisk USB Flash Drive
Now this is just cute - the Wedisk USB flash drive that looks like a Wiimote, save it comes in a much more pocketable size, courtesy of SolarMemo. The A button will release the USB connector, but that’s about all the interactivity you’ll be able to get out of it. I’m not sure whether Nintendo’s legal eagles approve of this though. The Wedisk will come in various sizes of up to 8GB, but there is no word on pricing at the moment. When will the Nunchuck version roll out? U-Mate Lap-Around-Japan Pedometer

U-Mate Lap-Around-Japan Pedometer
The U-Mate Lap-Around-Japan pedometer is definitely one healthy idea to encourage folks to walk more. It takes a different method to mark the number of miles you and your sneakers have covered, doing away with tradition that involves showing off the same old landmarks such as a skyscraper, convenience store and roadworks, but instead transforms the miles into the Japanese coastline. In addition, it keeps you to speed by entertaining you with the geography of Japan just in case you were sleeping in class back at school. For example, assuming you take one mile to reach your office by foot and the same distance back home after work. (Read the full post about ‘U-Mate Lap-Around-Japan Pedometer’…)

Dell adds Penryn to Inspiron laptop lineup
Posted Feb 20th 2008 1:10PM by Paul MillerFiled under: Laptops Ooh, like we’re so surprised Dell. The ever-popular Inspiron series of laptops is getting Intel’s latest inside, with the Insprion 1720 configurable with up to a T9300 2.5GHz Penryn processor for as low as $1,199, while the Inspiron 1420 does up to a T8300 for as low as $924. Granted you’ll probably want to pair Penryn with more than the base specs (or you might be able to skim some more off those prices if you really work at it), but it’s not hard to nab yourself a well-specced Penryn machine for well under $1,500. HD DVD losses the war, prices begin to drop

HD DVD losses the war, prices begin to drop
Just a little bit late, but in case you are still looking to support the hd dvd side of the seemingly ended format war, the deals are starting to role in. The latest offer is available from Circuit City and includes the Toshiba A2 HD DVD player and 5 movies for just $85. Had this deal been offered a few months back this could have been a deciding factor, but now it just seems silly. I guess the retailers are looking to clear some shelf space and make room for those new Blu-ray displays. LG Viewty KU990 Review

LG Viewty KU990 Review
After using the LG Viewty for a month we’ve compiled the good, the bad and the ugly on this little black handset. Two people had the phone for a few weeks and swapped it to get different perspectives. Good points Big bright and colourful screen SMS / notes can switch to full screen landscape QWERTY mode which is great for extra speed Touch screen is nice as buttons are big enough, (still press two buttons at the same time occasionally though) Touch screen tactile feedback is useful, and thoughtful feature when making a phone with minimal hard keys. Battery life is good for both standby and normal phone use. 3G - Good data speeds It can play flash / swf content. (Read the full post about ‘LG Viewty KU990 Review’…)

Sirius-XM Merger Still Hanging After a Year

Written by admin on Wednesday, February 20th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Sirius-XM Merger Still Hanging After a Year
Pardon us a little nostalgia trip as we hearken back to the heady days of Q107, when Amy Winehouse had only been involuntarily committed a few times and the future of satellite radio seemed to be a dreamy image of cooperation and customer attention. Yep, its a full year since satradio competitors XM and Sirius rolled out their merger proposal, and there’s still not the slightest hint when federal regulators will decide whether or not to allow it. For me, a positive ruling can’t come too soon, so as I can secretly choose an ala carte programming plan that "accidentally" excludes the Sirius Blue-Collar Comedy channel the missus has grown so fond of.
