Krell iPod Dock Big On Price

Written by admin on Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Krell iPod Dock Big On Price
Thankfully, the £1,350 price tag that comes with the Krell iPod dock claims to net you the best iPod dock in the entire world. At that price, I’m not sure if I’d invest in MP3 tunes any more since the bitrate can only get so high. Give me a super audio CD anyday for audio clarity, but then again MP3s are the new cassettes due to their convenience. Would you ever drop such serious coin for an ipod dock? The day I do that would be after having checked into the local asylum. Tags: players, speaker, gadgets, Gadget (Read the full post about ‘Krell iPod Dock Big On Price’…)

Monster Cable Defends Overpriced Cables: The Short Form

Monster Cable Defends Overpriced Cables: The Short Form
Monster Cable is fighting back against critics of its overpriced cables, responding to a Consumerist expose of profit margins. Monster issued a long, rambling denunciation of the criticisms therein. Here’s a Valleywag-esque 100-word version: • Making a fuss over the high markups on our cables is misleading, because all brick-and-mortar stores aim for similar margins on every type of product. It’s much worse on clothing, jewelry and furniture. • So what if the retailers are ripping you off? That’s the retailers’ fault, not Monster Cable’s. • Monster makes the world’s highest quality cables. "Our customers know what they’re paying for." • The idea that digital transmissions suffer no signal loss is nonsense. Posted Feb 19th 2008 2:06PM by Darren MurphFiled under: Wireless, Networking We know, most of you Blue Devil fans are still reeling from that recent loss to Wake Forest, but if it’s any consolation, at least your campus is about to become home to the “world’s largest” 802.11n wireless network. HP’s 2133 UMPC Revealed

Written by admin on Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

Earlier today Engadget posted a few images and some information about an upcoming UMPC. This wouldn’t normally qualify as very big news, especially with the large number of these devices on the way but this one is from HP.

The HP Compaq 2133 looks like a pretty exciting device actually. It is not exactly revolutionary, but from a casual glance it seems like someone got a titanium PowerBook and crossed with with an Eee PC. That is to say, it looks quite cool and would stand out in this growing category.

The highlights include a 8.9″ display at 1366×766, a keyboard that is 95% of full size, optional SSD, and a starting weight of 2.5lbs.

Hanging printer

Hanging printer
It’s quite an obvious fact that desk space is of great importance. Hardly someone likes when there are odds and ends on the table. So for those people who try to keep their desk space clean and tidy designers create objects with small footprints. Such a device has been recently invented by Korean designers (Jin Hee Kim, Hyung Il Kim & Woo Seok Park). Their new gadget represents quite an original hanging printer that can help you a lot in saving your space. The significant part of its components is underneath the desk. So the only parts that are located on the desk are paper feed and print head. Giving concept has an embedded LCD to indicate status. (Read the full post about ‘Hanging printer’…)

H2G0 Hydrogen-Powered Car
This die-cast model of the H2Go MH Mach 3.0 from Corgi prides itself in being the “first and only hydrogen-fueled radio controlled car that requires no disposable batteries.” Each kit comes complete with a car, refueling station, a solar panel, and a remote control. Sounds perfect for parents who are sick of purchasing batteries over and over again (rechargeables or otherwise) just to satisfy their kid’s lust for all things remote control. Hopefully the technology from the H2Go will be able to make its way to other grown up devices like iPods and cell phones. (Read the full post about ‘H2G0 Hydrogen-Powered Car’…)

Hitachi clamshell with an e-ink display
Nowadays the diversity of cell phones is so huge that it becomes more and more difficult to invent something unique and original. Despite of this many companies still succeed in doing so. Hitachi novelty - W61H - is quite a good evidence for this. Given gadget represents the clamshell that is the first in the world to come with a 2.7 inch e-ink display. Because of this it has been already nicknamed ‘Silhouette screen’. Users can choose from 95 patterns of the screen, unfortunately the display is not robust enough to show text messages or email. Turn your boring monitor into an HDTV

Turn your boring monitor into an HDTV

While I love my tech toys, I’ve not taken the plunge and purchased an HDTV. I can’t really justify such a purchase, as I don’t spend a ton of time in the living room watching TV. I have a 22-inch monitor in my office that I’ll play movies on and watch the occasional show on, but that’s about it. Thanks to Asus, I’ll be able to use that same monitor to enjoy HDTV if I choose. The new Asus HDTV Suite-HDMI is a standalone box that essentially turns your regular monitor into an HDTV with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. What’s interesting is that it claims to work an any screen 15-inches or bigger. (Read the full post about ‘Turn your boring monitor into an HDTV’…)

Intel Centrino Chips To Surpass 3.0GHz Mark
This spring will see Intel, er, spring into action with its next-generation Centrino notebook platform that will surpass the 3.0GHz mark, bringing even more computing power wherever you go. This new processor will feature a 1066MHz front-side bus. Needless to say, you will be seeing this new processor in action inside Apple’s MacBook and MacBook Pro offerings eventually. They’ll cost a bomb though, so now would be a good time to start saving already. Tags: design, pvr, robots, wireless (Read the full post about ‘Intel Centrino Chips To Surpass 3.0GHz Mark’…)
