Will the iPhone flash?  Rumor says any day now

Will the iPhone flash?  Rumor says any day now
Gear Live just posted a tip they have received from their sources about the iPhone will have flash support in the very near future.  Currently, the iPhone and iPod touch do not support flash sites leaving some to be dissapointed in the web experience.  Rumor was it was a hardware issue that prevented the support. Seems it was not a hardware issue, just negotiations according to the site.  They speculate that the news of flash support will be combined with the SDK release we expect at the end of the month.  Word on the street is folks have been hired for an Apple event at the end of this month.  Apple is mum on the news. Rocket Pen with Launch Pad

Rocket Pen with Launch Pad

If you’re under pressure at work, this rocket pen desktop toy could be just the item you need to bring a smile back to your weary face. Press the button on the launch control pad to release the rocket skywards, extra brownie points (whatever they are?!) if you manage to catch it on its descent. The rocket has rubber sides and a soft foam tip so you won’t be damaging any ceiling tiles in a hurry either. Extra drama to the occasion can be added by a NASA style count down before finally launching the rocket three feet into the air, I wouldn’t recommend doing annoying behaviour like that all day though as your work colleagues will probably fire the rocket into Uranus.

Baby Plays lets you rent toys online

Written by admin on Tuesday, February 12th, 2008 in devices and gadgets.

One of the problems you can’t really bypass as a parent is that kids stop playing with those expensive toys you got them for birthdays, Christmas, or just as a treat. The result is a growing pile of plastic that usually finds its way into a cupboard, charity shop, or given away to other parents.

One woman has experienced this and found a niche in the market for a toy rental service. Lori Pope has twin sons and did not like the growing number of toys she was accumulating, so she decided to start a rental business.

The business is called Baby Plays and allows subscribers to rent up to 6 toys a month that are shipped out much like many of us experience with online DVD rentals.

Intel offices raided in Germany
Posted Feb 12th 2008 10:04AM by Evan BlassFiled under: Desktops, Laptops As part of their investigation into the company’s alleged abuse of its market position at the expense of rival AMD, EU competition regulators have raided chip giant Intel’s offices in Munich, Germany, along with those of Metro AG-owned Media Markt and other unnamed PC retailers. The European Commission has been keeping a close eye on Intel since last summer, when the company was formally accused of offering rebates and making payoffs to customers and retailers in exchange for preferential treatment — charges that Intel has repeatedly, although somewhat obtusely, denied. It’s not clear at this point what material, if anything, was confiscated in these (Read the full post about ‘Intel offices raided in Germany’…)

UK to get tough on illegal downloaders

UK to get tough on illegal downloaders
The UK government are considering plans to cut off Internet access for people that illegally download music and films. Adopting the US ‘three strikes’ rule the consultation green paper “suggests” internet service providers would be required to take action over users who access pirated material, via a e-mail warning, suspension, and then termination of their contract. That means that over 6 million people in the UK could be cut off from the internet. Broadband providers that failed to enforce the rules could be prosecuted and forced to provide the details of the downloaders to the courts! Via [BBC] Keep up with the latest gadget goodness! HTC intro’s the P3470: An affordable touchscreen based phone with GPS
HTC has introduced the P3470, which according to HTC “sets a new standard in affordable smartphone, GPS-based devices.” Overall it seems like the P3470 will offer a decent set of specs along with being a nice looking phone, much better than that spy shot image we first saw back in January. The HTC P3470 features a 2.8-inch QVGA display, 200MHz CPU, 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD card slot and a built-in GPS with TomTom Navigator 6. Sadly even with the GPS its hard to notice the P3470 is not 3G capable and is limited to quad-band EDGE, not to mention an (albeit standard) but still disappointing a 2-megapixel camera. My last blackout was a long, long time ago; so long ago that I cannot remember when it happened. Do I need a backup lighting system? I probably don’t but I have a little brother who still bears the scar of an encounter with a mosquito net bracket that he had when he was three years old. I now live in an earthquake prone country, so it is probably a good idea to get prepared, so that I can have some lights come on around me when my apartment falls to pieces around me.
