Tooth Tunes: Brush ‘n’ roll!

Tooth Tunes: Brush ‘n’ roll!
Brush ‘n’ roll just about sums it all up. The new Tooth Tunes toothbrush can get you shaking your booty while brushing those (hopefully) pearly whites. Tooth Tunes toothbrushes use a bone-conduction technology wherein sound waves from the music are transmitted via the jawbone to your inner ear. Think hearing voices inside your head, except it’s so much better! Needless to say, you can only hear music while the bristles are in contact with your teeth. If you want to pump up the volume, simply brush a bit harder. And in case you’ve got enough of the pseudo-schizophrenism (no, no, that’s not a real word), you can always flick the switch off. iPhone update can break wifi Internet

iPhone update can break wifi Internet
I know I was incredibly enthusiastic about the iPhone upgrade to firmware version 1.1.3, just yesterday, minutes after it was made available, but let me be a warning to you- always be cautious about new updates. You’d think I’d learn after upgrading all my computers to Vista, then having to scramble to find old XP disks because Vista just doesn’t work. Anyway, both Hoyun and I were terribly excited about the sort-of GPS function in Maps, and I was even startled to find that while I was out at dinner, the iPhone was able to pinpoint my location to the very restaurant I was sitting in. I was so excited and a little scared. (Read the full post about ‘iPhone update can break wifi Internet’…)

Taiwan Daily: Acer To Be Next With Subnotebook
Digitimes of Taipei echoes a report from the Commercial Times which claims Acer will be next to issue a subnotebook PC. Theirs will compete with the "similar sized" Eee PC from rival Asus, offering a low price tag and spartan specs."Acer will outsource the production of its low-cost notebooks to Wistron, while purchasing LCD panels from AU Optronics (AUO), which will produce 8- and 9-inch panels at its fifth-generation (G5) production lines for both Acer and Asustek, the paper indicated."A Ferrari subnotebook, perhaps? HCL rolls out low-cost MiLeap laptops for India
Posted Jan 16th 2008 3:19PM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Laptops HCL’s already brought some low-cost desktops to India, and it looks set to do the same for laptops as well, with the company now taking the wraps off two budget-priced models made “with a little help from Intel.” As you can see above, one of those, the MiLeap X, is more than a little familiar-looking, although HCL seems to be doing its best to distant itself from the Classmate PC brand, and claims that the laptop has been “designed exclusively for India.” Suffering from no such confusion is the slightly higher-end and more UMPC-like MiLeap Y model, which boasts the same 7-inch screen and built-in WiFi, but adds an 80GB hard drive, Bluetooth, and Vista Home Premium in place of the MiLeap X’s Linux OS, among other features. Hands-on: Axiotron Modbook Tablet Mac [Laptops]
newVideoPlayer(”modbook.flv”, 475, 286,”"); On the floor of Macworld today, we scored some hands-on time with Axiotron’s Modbook—the tablet Mac pieced from the the carcass of a MacBook. While the system already made a splash at Macworld 2007, we had the opportunity to test the final shipping model. Our 3-second verdict: it’s an absolute joy to use. Here are our full impressions: galleryPost(’modbook’, 3, ”); The pressure-sensitive display feels perfect for SketchBook Pro, as pressing harder draws bolder, thicker lines, just like the now hideously-antiquated analog sketching. But we were more surprised by how fluid it felt to navigate OSX with a stylus. (Read the full post about ‘Hands-on: Axiotron Modbook Tablet Mac [Laptops]’…)

DIY Fire Alarm Clock - loud, loud, and red, red..

DIY Fire Alarm Clock - loud, loud, and red, red..
This DIY Fire Alarm Clock may be overkill, but hey, maybe you’re a little deaf? Eh? What’s that you say?  This hack takes a standard cheap alarm clock, some interface components and a fire alarm bell to get the job done right. Normally these small alarm clocks use a piezo buzzer to attempt to wake you up. The alarm signal is hijacked from the clock circuit board and used as an input to the interface board. Pirate Bay may soon face charges

Pirate Bay may soon face charges
Over the past few years the torrent site ‘The Pirate Bay’ has become a favorite of those who hate the draconian tactics of the RIAA and MPAA. The merry pranksters have consistently taunted anyone and everyone who has attempted to shut them down. The Pirate Bay has become so influential that the Swedish-based site has even tried to form their own political party. Sadly the Pirate Bay may be winding down. For the first time, the administrators of the Pirate Bay may be facing charges from the Swedish government. Back in 2006, Swedish official seized their servers in what seemed to be the end of the improbable run of the Pirate Bay. The site was back up and running within three days.
