SOLO to connect to others
Save your minutes and money by using IPEVO’s new SOLO Skype Desktop Phone. SOLO is the perfect name for this computer-free Skype phone, which makes adopting Skype (free voice-over-internet phone service) tremendously easier. You’ll only need to use your computer once to both set up a Skype account and establish a lasting connection between Skype and SOLO to your broadband. Early-adopters report that voice quality is excellent and crisp, Skype’s user-friendly interface displays well on the adjustable 2.4″ TFT color LCD. There’s also a built-in speaker-phone and three quick-dial keys. (Read the full post about ‘SOLO to connect to others’…)

Will Digital Watermarking Rise From DRM’s Ashes? [Drm]

Will Digital Watermarking Rise From DRM’s Ashes? [Drm]
Okay, so DRM is dead dead dead. Hurray, right? Well, Wired says it’s simply being swapped out for digital watermarking, which will lay out breads crumbs for the labels to follow as songs make their way across P2P networks, and the bundle of evidence will allow them to place pressure on ISPs to engage in large-scale network filtering. Right now, though, only two labels are watermarking tracks—Universal and Sony BMG. EMI and Warner aren’t lacing their files yet, but it’s a definite future possibility, and the watermarks could be used in conjunction with a filtering plan like AT&T’s, which was recently confirmed an AT&T exec. Breaking: Apple’s Rumored New Device Is a Super Thin Ultra Portable?
Is this the face of things to come? Our colleague Charlie Sorrel, pointed out earlier today that the rumor mill hints of a new MacBook utterly devoid of cables. However, he wouldn’t speculate on its physical dimensions. But now we’ve got the, uh, skinny on what this new ultra slim, ultra portable actually looks like thanks to one source who says they saw this device in the wild. Steve Jobs is widely expected to reveal a new MacBook at Macworld on Tuesday morning, and with the rumored name being "MacBook Air." Most people are expecting a conventional sub-notebook — a super-thin, lightweight laptop that ships without an optical CD/DVD drive. Steve Jobs MacWorld 2008 Keynote Leaked? Probably Not
On the eve of MacWorld 2008, a rumor about a potential leak of Steve Job’s keynote speech on wikipedia is spreading on the web like wildfire. I personally think that this is a fake that looks like a mix of “wish list” and “predictions”. I have not read previous notes from Steve Jobs, but I do not imagine that they would look like that. Anyhow, this is just my opinion, so take a look at the leak (on pocket-lint), and tell us what you think of it. LG Prada Phone Coming in Silver [Gadgets]

So if colour was the reason why you’ve been holding out on getting one of these fashion phones, well, there ya go. Sony trots out “portable” Bravia B4000 series LCD TVs
Posted Jan 14th 2008 11:47AM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Displays, HDTV While we doubt many will be lugging one of these around on their next business trip or outdoor adventure, Sony’s new line of Bravia B4000 LCD TVs does at least look to be portable enough to tote from room to room, a task made slightly easier by Sony’s thoughtful inclusion of a built-in handgrip. That somewhat distinct feature is apparently included on all of the models in the line (including 20, 23, and 26-inch varieties), each of which include virtual surround sound, Sony’s trademark “BRAVIA Engine,” dual HDMI ports, and integrated Freeview digital TV tuners. Excellent RSS Readers from NewsGator, now Free!
I missed this while I was running around at CES, but NewsGator has announced that its strong line-up of RSS readers is now available for free. This includes FeedDemon (Windows), NetNewsWire (Mac) and NewsGator Go! Now, there’s no reason not to try these great RSS readers. For my part, I have been using FeedDemon for a while, but I ultimately preferred Google Reader because I use multiple computers. GlobalPandora - Pandora hacked to give world access again?
GlobalPandora. Er…it looks as though some enterprising folk have opened the wonderful Pandora up to the world again. This comes hot on the heels of the announcement that the UK is to lose access to Pandora this week due to…gasp, guess what…a breakdown of talks with the ever stupid record industry. Of course I can’t test it until the cut-off comes tomorrow, but if it works as seems…well fabulous. the box is open Tags: mobiles, mobile phone, camera, Hi-fi (Read the full post about ‘GlobalPandora - Pandora hacked to give world access again?’…)

The last Sky Commuter concept craft hits eBay
Posted Jan 14th 2008 10:23AM by Paul MillerFiled under: Transportation Oh, what a tease! This here Sky Commuter prototype is the last remaining example of what could have been: after the company failed in the late 80’s and the plant was shut down, all other prototypes of this personal commuter craft were destroyed. The vehicle is registered with the FAA as a “VTOL” (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft, but the prototype can only hover to about 10 feet before losing stability. It’s going for $62,600, a virtual bargain, but you’d better move fast — the auction ends in an hour. (Read the full post about ‘The last Sky Commuter concept craft hits eBay’…)
